The Vogue Business Spring/Summer 2027 Menswear Size Inclusivity Report: "Protein Chic" and Extreme Physiques Take Center Stage

Alongside the continued dominance of straight-size casting, the Spring/Summer 2027 menswear shows saw a sharp focus on extreme physiques, from “protein chic” and hyper-muscular builds shaped by looksmaxxing to the return of ultra-slim “slender man” silhouettes. Out of the 2,741 looks presented across Milan and Paris, only 0.2% were shown on plus-size models. Mid-size representation increased to 2.3%, up from 1.2% last season. Paris was the only city to feature any plus-size representation, with just three brands including plus-size models. “We are going backward,” Nouchi told Vogue Business. “Since we are in a crisis, people turn to fashion as a refuge — a gateway into fantasies of transformation and idealized versions of the self. This can fuel a return to regressive ideals of masculinity and virility.” While Milan recorded no plus-size representation, it emerged as the more size-inclusive capital overall.
